Choose Love

By Elijah

Read: Deuteronomy 2:1-3:29, Luke 6:12-38, Psalm 67:1-7, Proverbs 11:27

But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.
If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them!
Luke 6:27,32

Relate:
One of the many life-changing things I was told was that love for others was to “wish the best for people.” Upon realizing that, I started to change my life around and started wishing the best for everyone and everything. Upon reading this verse, I found it very dear to my heart, as it resonated so much.

React:
Choosing to love was the mental switch in my life that really changed me for the better. The idea of loving even when no love is to be received, and how you should love even those who don’t love you is truly a remarkable statement made by Jesus, showing how genuinely and intensely he loves. According to God, it’s best to choose love, and I think by choosing love, I’m seeing more and more of Him.

Respond:

Dear Lord,
You constantly and consistently show us love, and it’s only fair that we show love to others. As it is written, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” You have loved us even if we make it hard for you to love us. I am so astounded by the amount of love you have for sinners like me, yet you would give up your son to save us. Your mercy and love are nothing short of amazing, and I pray for the compassion and mercy that you show us.
Amen

  1. An encouraging post especially when our world is filled with great negativities. I have been meditating on your same message and have reached the conclusion that, we must all come to the full understanding truly believing that God is in full control.
