You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness. There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives.
Exodus 23:25-26
Relate: George Müller was a famous evangelist living in Bristol, England in the 1800s. After he became a Christian, he lived with the goal of relying on only God for everything he needed; including money, a place to live, and the food he ate. He lived every day through prayer; wholly dependent on God. Although he never accumulated wealth or fame in his lifetime, he served his Lord by founding orphanages, evangelizing in Bristol, and being a faithful loving husband.
In the passage, God promised that if we serve him alone, we would be blessed. Müller was blessed with everything that God promised him. He received food and water every day, had no major illnesses, raised three children of his own with no miscarriages, and lived a long, full life of more than ninety years. George Müller has influenced my Christian life almost more than any other person. He showed me what the power of prayer can do, and what it looks like to live for God alone. He helped me and many others realize that God should be the only thing we look to for our daily needs.
React: In our society today, Christians are dependent on many things other than God. We rely on things like wealth to provide for our daily needs, we look to social media to find acceptance and praise, and instead of utilizing the power of prayer to help us win earthly battles, we rely on our own strength when we fight them. Unlike George Müller, we try to take the wheel of our life instead of letting God drive for us.
Let us try to be more like George Müller by only serving the Lord. Matthew 6:25-34 promises us that we do not need to be anxious about what will come the next day because God has already taken care of it. We do not need to be afraid that God will provide for us as long as we trust and serve him alone as our Lord and God.
Respond:
Dear Lord,
Help us to not rely on the things of this world to bring us comfort, and let it be known that there is no need for anxiety when you are our Lord. You provide for us our daily bread and bless us with long fulfilling lives. We love you and praise you.
Amen.
Nearly all posts in February and March have as special guest authors the Juniors from the Christian Living class at Faith Academy.

As a young Christian, I read a biography of GM’s life, and it absolutely transformed my thinking. I learned that I, too, could trust in the same Provider who cared for the Muellers and all those God had entrusted to him. AMEN.
I appreciated this post. I relate to this evidenced by the weekend’s request for help to complete the homework for my Master’s. God gave me answers. I can appreciate you sharing this so much. It was not a figment of my imagination.
Amen, yes Lord help us become totally consumed and dependent on you alone…thanks for sharing
