My Rock And My Fortress

You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger.
Psalms 31:3

Relate: If someone asks me “Do you think God loves you?” I will say very much with no hesitation. God is equal to all people, but I have that big feeling that His love for me was different. There once was a time when I asked him “God I sin big but can you still love me, do you still love me?” God calmly answered, “I love you.” Those words gave me complete confidence. That God has never stopped loving me. You may ask how I can have faith right away with just those words, but if it were just those words, I wouldn’t believe it either. I wish I could write about God’s response that I heard at that time and make you feel it too, but I can’t because his response was so great.

As much as God loves me, he protects me. Like how it says in Psalms 31:3 “For the honor of Your name, lead me out of this  danger.” He protected me before I was born and after I was born. The moments that I thought were the worst actually happened to protect me, and in the end, I was always able to win in the name of God. God has never let me walk down a path that was not beneficial to me. I wanted to repay God even a little, but when I looked for work to do for Him, it all ended up working for me.

React: God protected me in several ways. One of them was responding to my decision. When deciding something, I asked God to send a signal, and if I received and followed that signal, I could always be protected from danger. However, foolishly, I sometimes ignored the signal and acted as I wanted. I’m not confident that I will not end up doing it again in the future. By reading Psalms 31 I was able to relate to King David. His sinful decision ended up with him in danger, but every time he was in danger he always asked for forgiveness for his sin and he prayed and asked for protection. That let me question myself, “I sin like David but do I ask for forgiveness like David? Do I pray that much to God?” Sadly my answer was a NO. So, I thought that from now on I should pray and ask for forgiveness and protection like David and be attached to God more.

Respond:

Dear God,
Thank you for all the protection that you have given me. Thank you for your love that even when I sin again and again you never stop being my shield. Forgive me for my sin. Please stop me whenever I get blind and walk a path that leads me into danger. In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.

  1. Amen! God is the epitome of love, grace, and acceptance; He knows our hearts and waits for us to ask, decluttering and opening our hearts to receive the best gifts.

  2. Nice song. 🙂 However, Jesus said, go and sin no more. There is such a thing as sin and then there are mistakes. As we make mistakes along life’s path, we learn and grow ever close to God, but we have to stop sinning. With Jesus in our boat, it is possible.
