In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2)
Read: Genesis 1:1-3:24
Relate: The clock has ticked down. The ball has dropped. Cheers have gone up and, for those luckier than me, kisses have been exchanged. The old has gone away, a new year has begun…
Now what?
I love New Years. I know, I know, every day is supposed to start a new year. You can begin a new life, make that change, become a better person any time. Yes. I know. It’s true. But there is something about the turning over of the calendar year that makes such an opportunity special. There is a newness, a freshness to January 1, 00:01 AM that literally screams with promise. There is just so much potential floating in the air…
So what do I do with it?
React: One of my favorite words in John 1:1 is “was”. Before anything begins: God.
He pre-existed time, creation, the universe, and this new year. Before any new starts, He is there. Before any truly new beginning can be made, He is there. In fact, it is only through His power that any of us can ever truly make a new start.
So, before you ambitious ones reading this early head off to bed, or before the rest of us begin our day, even before we take another step, lets just stop and pause and dedicate this new year to God. It is His already, we are just being given the opportunity to acknowledge the fact.
Respond:
God, I give this day to You. This week, this month, this year.. they are all Yours. All of my past, all of my dreams and hopes for the future, all of my failures and successes, I lay them down. Let me begin today anew, in You.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 TO YOU, FELLOW BLOGGER 🙂 MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND SHINE UPON YOU!

Fantastic! Must re-post. Thanks for a great start to the new year. Peace & Blessings, Ruth
Happy New Year my dear old friend. (For sometimes, as followers, the journey is rough, and it seems like -at the end- we really are just ‘old friends’ on the same journey.) May the Lord bless you and keep you, shine his light upon you, shoe you a token for good, always hear your prayers, and may he delight in your presence always- as he did David. Your post tonight deserves a reblog, most definitely.

Because at the end of it all, Christ is all you have, and have ever had. Don’t put your hope in man, nor your faith in kings. It is the Lord who has never left your side, it is the Lord who kept you from wandering astray.
Blessings & Grace to you.

The Words that resound for me in the Bible are and “God Said” just those two words mean’t so much to me all my life – but my favourite words of all time, l heard when l was 14 in Sunday School and these were ” Man Can Not Live By Bread Alone But Every Word From God” when l heard it – l did not understand it, now 2014 years after birth of Christ – I do. God Bless and Happy New Year.
Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing your thoughts from a heart for God. Keep up the work for the Lord as you have been doing. He will bless you as you honor Him.

😀 Happy New Year to you! Great post!
Loved it!
“How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.” (Matthew 7:14) The Kingdom of God is a treasure, not something you can buy at Walmart. By cheapening the cost of the sacrifice, the Church has created a body of believers who are Black Friday shoppers. Wanting to pay as little as possible for something of value.
Wonderful post. Thank you for starting our new year off with a whisper.

Awesome reminder brother! All the best to you!
Hi! This blog is simply amazing!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog because I feel like God has knocked on my ‘door’! Having been so distant from the Bible and wanting to really do a good read-up of the Gospel of John, I wrote my latest post. And now, I feel like the analysis and reflections that you have on your blog can really guide me through this journey:)
Keep doing what you do because it is a blessing to so many people:D
Thank you so much!
