Angels On Standby

By Emmanuel

Read: Exodus 30:11-31:18, Matthew 26:47-68, Psalm 32:1-11, Proverbs 8:27-32

Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”
Matthew 26:53-54

Relate: This relates to my life because there have been times in my life when I understood other things that God wanted me to do. However, I was not like Jesus and I did not listen to what God wanted me to do because I trusted my judgment which landed me on a rough path in life where I struggled to bring myself back to God.

Another way we can relate to this is that we have angels on standby to protect us from evil because we are God’s children. When I was in my mother’s womb, my parents were traveling. A few hours in, our car broke down in the middle of the street late at night with no one around. However, out of nowhere, a soldier appeared out of the dark. He helped my dad push the car towards the gas station with my mom inside. Upon reaching the gas station my dad wanted to pay him for his service and help; however, he was nowhere to be seen. This is a prime example in my life of how God is on standby to protect his children when in need.

React: This verse is quite shocking. This is because of the authority that we see Jesus exhort in verse 53. It also builds up the strength of Jesus because we know that Jesus knew that he would be betrayed at that exact moment. However, his strength is shown when he is calm, under control, and in his trust in God.

Jesus is aware of God’s plan for his life. He is still human like us who feels like us. However, he can subside his feelings so that God’s will on his life. We tend to understand God’s plan for our life if we are close to God but do not follow through with it because we are scared and trust our judgment over God.

Another shocking part of this scripture is the thousands of angels on standby as spoken by Jesus. This is rather shocking that thousands of angels are always ready to protect Jesus. This can be applied to our lives because we tend to underestimate the power of God’s love over love and how much God is willing to go for us because of how divine God is.

Respond:

Father God,
I pray that you help me to learn from this verse. I pray that you can help me to understand the plans you have for my life. Understanding these plans you have for my life will help me stay close to you. Help you to stick to these plans and to not follow my jurisdiction. Help me to stay disciplined and pure in Christ as I pursue my career in life and grow in spirit and knowledge.
Amen
