God is an artist.
When push came to shove, each had an opportunity to examine their own heart and say, “There but for the grace of God, go I.”
God blesses grand gestures and we can all benefit from the occasional offering of all that we have to give and then even more.
As crowded as these homes probably already were, I watched over and over again these kind and loving citizens open their homes to those who had been evicted (on pain of death) from theirs. I cannot but help compare the response of the western world that has such a greater capacity and yet continues to keep their doors closed.

No matter how great any individual leader may seem, true world changing greatness in a community (or church) can only happen when everyone in that community is on board as an active participant.
I think I would have been one of the ones who had a little trouble with the manna gathering. Most of the people of Israel did quite well at gathering up each day just what they needed for that day. But some of the Israelites tried to gather up extra. I don’t blame them.
