I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. (Revelation 1:17-18)

empty

Relate: He is the First (Alpha, al’Awwat) and He is the Last (Omega, al’Akhir). He is the Living One (Hechai, al’Hayy). Once dead, He now lives forever. He holds the keys of death and the grave.

There have been others who have died to be raised back to life. In the Bible, there is Lazarus, Jairus’ daughter, the son of the widow from Nain, Eutycus, the man who fell onto Elisha’s bones, and so forth. In modern times there is Jeff Markin, the 16 dead in Caleme Brazil, the boy who was dead for over a day in Africa, and Daniel Ekechukwu. Even if some or all of these are false or sensationalized, I know it is still possible. It is possible to pray for someone and for God to raise them from the grave.

React: What is not possible is for someone to raise himself  from the grave. Yet this is exactly what Jesus did. Crucified on the cross, he took our sins and carried them to the grave. But that is where He left them. Death tried to hold on. Hell tried to lock Him in. But Jesus, as God, was greater by far than both. He stole the keys of death and kicked down the gates of hell. He rolled away the stone and now His grave stands empty. He died so that we can live. And now He lives so that, one day, we can live forever with Him. From first to last, Jesus is our victorious God.

  1. “In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”….
“He is Allâh, (the) One”…”Allâh-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks)”….”He begets not, nor was He begotten”…”And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him”

  2. Reblogged this on RG's 2 Cents and commented:
Jesus (The Only Begotten of The Father) is Lord. He is the Conqueror of Death and the Savior of us all. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to The Father but by Him.

Thank you for this very inspiring post!

    • So are you saying Jesus is a liar? He said Himself, “I died, but look, I am alive forever.” The quran also said, “Every soul will taste death.” I do not agree that the quran is right in all that it says, but when it said that, it is speaking truth.
That Jesus died and then was raised to life is not just a belief that some people have. It is a historical fact.

      • Jesus is not dead , he is alive with God , because and only because he is a prophet , like the Muslims prophet Mohammad ! and every one in this life will die including Jesus and Mohammad when God inherit the earth !

  3. No my dears excuse me , Jesus is NOT the son of God nor a God , If we Christians respect this fact it would be way better for us ! and Bible we have now is not fully truthful about those things, and the book of Qura’n did not say any thing about him being the God or a son of God !

    • There is only one God, but that God is three. Jesus is God. The Father is God. The Holy Spirit is God. But the three are one. To deny Jesus as God is to deny exactly what it means to be a Christian. To deny that He died and was raised to life is to make our faith foolish and meaningless. If He did not die, then we are not forgiven. If He did not rise, then we have no hope.

      • Amen. And this Ali is not a Christian if He believes what he says above. A Christian is one who believes that Jesus is our Savior and believes in the Holy Trinity. We will pray for you, Ali. And we will pray that you turn from your Quran that orders all of those believers to kill any infidel who does not convert – no peace or love there – just control and fear!

      • “Quran that orders all of tlhose believers to kill any infidel who does not convert – no peace or love there – just control and fear!”
Sir Quran did not order to kill any infedil who does not convert. Misquoting verses of Quran without proper reference to context, and misinterpreting is highly disrespectful and intellectual dishonesty. It should be avoided. Plus I live in Pakistan,(country with muslim majority), and minorities including christian are living here peacefully. I, myself, being Muslim, studied in a missionary school. I respect highly my christian teachers and administration. Love my christian friends. And BJ I respect you too for your enviable faith on God/Allah. Though I believe in monotheism not trinity. The purpose of telling all this is to clear you that there is love and peace in Islam. Yes, there is control and fear too. But that too is necessary to create a peaceful and just atmosphere in the society.

        • Rafia has been a facebook friend for a while now and has some very insightful things there and on her blog. I disagree with her on some key theological issues, but agree with her that your comment was disrespectful and uninformed.

  4. first of all , there is nothing God is three , God is one and from one not from 3 things , and Jesus is not dead , but he is living in heaven with God , and he will be back to earth to save good Humans from the bad ones !

    • Ali, Allah knows you and me. From before the beginning of time He knew us. He knows that both of us, no matter how hard we try will never be able, on our own, to break away from sin. I just is not possible.
Because Allah is perfectly holy, there can be no sin in His presence. So when it comes to the moment of our death, it all comes down to the question can we be in His presence or not? If we have any sin, we simply cannot be with Allah because He cannot and He will not coexist with sin.
So Allah has to act. There is nothing we can do to remove our sin. He must do it, all by Himself, for us. The message of Jesus is that Allah loves us so much that despite our sin, He will do what He can to save us and to remove that sin from us. He loves us too much to watch us destroy ourselves. So Allah chose his own humiliation for us. He chose to come down to this earth, as a man, and be crucified on a cross rather than remain in heaven remain in heaven and continue to be worshiped by His angels.
This is not a story of theology. It is not a debate about who is right and who is wrong. This is the truth about the love of God. Allah loves me. Allah loves you. And He will give up everything. He did give up everything so that we could once again live with Him. He is willing to do that because Allah loves people more than He loves His own majesty. That is why God is great. That is why I will live my life in submission to Him. Will you?

  7. He said: “I died”, and that means he was not alive when he said that, it is impossible for a dead person to talk, right? No doubt, somebody else put those words in his mouth after Jesus died.

    • He said he died after he was raised again from the grave. My aunt can say, “I died for a few minutes because she did. But then the doctors brought her back.” Jesus can say, “I died for a few days.” And then he brought himself back.

      • If that is so. Jesus also suppose to say:: I died for three days…. and that makes any body understands that Jesus is not any more dead… but when he said: I died…. that means he is not alive, my question is how can he said I died and he already dead?

  9. { إنما المسيح عيسى ابن مريم رسول الله وكلمته ألقاها إلى مريم وروح منه فآمنوا بالله ورسله ولا تقولوا ثلاثة انتهوا خيرا لكم إنما الله إله واحد سبحانه أن يكون له ولد له ما في السموات وما في الأرض وكفى بالله وكيلا }

    • God do not need to have wife, son or family, why should he? Also, since he created all the things, the human beings only some of what he have created so the human beings don’t form any important so that God die for them. The angels for example more much more than the human beings and gens and much great, and despite of that they are just slaves of God and and all the creations. Your story about Issa peace upon him is unbelievable, it is a superstition. Issa peace upon him is just a prophet like others played a role and died and he buried under soil on our planet the earth.

  12. God is great on you and … God Kfrckm one single individual stood begets not .. but like Jesus when God created Adam from dust, do you not understand Dear Aldalon Almkzbon

  13. The point the Muslims are missing and avoiding is that these are documented miracles in the name of Jesus. I found better links for them: Dr. Chauncey Crandall interview – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKCF8sJJSk4. Boy raising from the dead in Africa (interviews and re-enactment of event) – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyO7QWYeFTE. The one about the 19 had moved and is somewhere on a huge site called http://healingherald.org/ (which is used as a source of archives now and the active location is https://www.facebook.com/healingherald), but there are plenty of miracles documented on both places.

    • Thank you – we will pray for you & your church, as well: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the many blessings you pour down upon us – we can sometimes be an ungrateful lot – forgive us for our oversights & give us a heart of the love of Christ for all those that we meet & know – let us be generous to a fault. Give us courage to speak your truth & a tearful pleading for (& to) lost souls. May we have “the faith of Jesus” for these last days, “keeping [all] the commandments of God” (Rev14:12). Bless us that we may “endure to the end” & in Jesus’ holy & precious name, we thank you for answered prayer, Amen.

  15. Thank you BJ.
I am new at this and can’t quite get the hang of designing my post/pages just on the basic format. I’ve been trying to get it right for two days now. Tomorrow an author is looking for me to submit my poetry for inclusion in her book “HerStoryHisGlory”. I don’t believe I’ll be ready. I really wanted to enter it because this poem “To God Be The Glory” tells my salvation story. It’s been collecting dust all these years. I just thought this would be a nice opportunity to help spread the Good News. God knows best, there will be other times, because He Lives I can face tomorrow! Blessings2U

  16. “He is not here, He is risen!” It is good that we are reminded that He is risen for sometimes we act as though He has not and we are in despair in front of suffering, we are in doubt in front of wave upon waves of problems, we are without zeal in front of mundane, uneventful days so that we are still in the tomb searching for Him, and we need this angel to tell us “why search for the Living among the dead?” to awaken our senses so that we can see again our way back because indeed He goes before us into Galilee, and we can once again take the road less traveled the road of the mission. This is a much needed post for me today! Thanks. 🙂

    • Just because someone is not speaking English does not mean their voice does not deserve to be heard. I can understand just enough to get me in trouble.

      • Granted, but if I’m trying to understand I’m left out of the loop. So either way it seems someone can’t participate. The way it seems to me, it’s specifically because it’s in Arabic that I can’t hear this individuals voice. Maybe someone can translate? I know that’s a lot of work, but just a thought.

BTW, thanks for responding to my question, i really appreciate it.
