In the Hard Times

By: Boaz

Read: Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23, Luke 8:40-9:6, Psalm 71:1-24, Proverbs 12:5-7

You have sent many bitter troubles my way.  But you will give me new life. Even if I’m almost in the grave, you will bring me back.
(Psalm 71:20)

Relate: Even through the hard days that I face, the days where I just find myself laying on my bed wondering, “Where did I make a mistake and how did I end up here?” There are low times in my life when everything just feels hopeless. We all can face these things in our everyday lives, but I am here to reassure you that it won’t ever stay that way.

There are many verses that you can relate to. I picked Psalms 71:20 because it felt like I could relate to it. Sometimes, I am at my lowest points, but God helped me through it all. It was not easy at first. Asking God. I was not even sure if it would help me. But I remember a specific time when I had a nightmare during my sleep, and when I woke up, I could not go back to sleep. That was when I prayed to God to give me comfort, and suddenly, the heavy feeling I had in my chest disappeared. Those are moments when I just thank God for giving me comfort in times of struggle.

React: When you are in those moments where you feel hopeless, sad, or depressed. Always remember that there is a Father who is waiting for you to call on Him and He will deliver you comfort and reassurance when in need. Don’t give up so easily because Jesus never gave up on that cross. We were supposed to be on that cross, but Jesus took all the blows in order for us to live.

Respond:

Dear God,
I thank You for being there even in the darkest moments of my life. I thank You for bringing comfort to my troubled soul. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I know You are with me. I pray that You will always be there with me.

Amen
