Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
(Psalm 34:8)
Relate: There was a time when I was overwhelmed by the finals. And my friend told me to pause, pray, and trust in God instead of relying on myself. As I chose to surrender my anxiousness, I felt an unexpected sense of peace and relief. This moment made me truly “taste and see” the goodness of God.
We are all juniors and I assume that we are deeply concerned about our future. In this moment, we should not try to solve our problems with only our strength, but to have a conversation with God. Sometimes, we should rely on him.
React: Both my illustration and the verse highlight the importance of faith to experience the goodness of God. Like tasting foods to know the taste, we need to actively believe and rely on God to know his faithfulness. Therefore, whoever reads this devotion should actively believe in God not only just observe him.
I was one of those people who just went to church and had worship regularly. I didn’t actively seek God and didn’t feel any necessity for it. So, I will actively put my faith and trust in Him, especially in the areas where I fear or doubt.
Respond:
Dear God,
You have been faithful. You have been so true to me, even when I have failed You. Help me to trust You more. Help me to “taste and see” how good You can be.
Amen
