Listen More

Read: Leviticus 7:28-9:6, Mark 3:31-4:25, Psalm 37:12-29, Proverbs 10:5

To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.
(Mark 4:25)

Relate: Sometimes we need to simply talk less and listen more. I wonder how often in our prayer time God is trying to speak to us and we just aren’t listening. How often do we keep interrupting what He has to say with our own petty laundry list? I wonder if, in His ears, we end up sounding just like this…

React: I know that I am very often guilty of not truly listening in day-to-day conversations. I am not truly paying attention to what my neighbor is saying but rather thinking of how I will respond the moment he takes a breath. Am I the only one?

Respond:

Dear God,
Today, I just want to truly hear from You. Speak, Lord…

  2. I had this argument many years ago with relatives and others, and saw the dismissive way they listened then, so it’s not surprising we don’t listen until it becomes an emergency, just saying it as is, thanks

  3. Be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. Wise words from Jesus brother, and words I need to be reminded of constantly…….so yes, I talk too much sometimes and need to be reminded to listen, not only to people more, but not talk at God, but to listen to his voice. Thanks for sharing.
