John 5:28-30 (Arise)

NYC Edit

Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.
I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me.
Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will. (John 5:28-30)

Read: 1 Samuel 30:1 – 31:13, 2 Samuel 1:1-27, 2 Samuel 4:4, 1 Chronicles 9:40 – 10:14, 1 Chronicles 12:20-22

Relate: I have to be honest, I just get chills just reading these verses. I’ve read them and reread them a half dozen times right here with my fingers on the keyboard ready to start typing. There’s this grin plastered on my face from ear to ear bigger and much more genuine than the Joker’s. I can’t help it. My mind keeps getting lost in that “when” that Jesus mentions in that top line.

Don’t be surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again.

From their graves they will hear His voice.

And they will rise again.

They will…

Arise.

React: This life here is not everything. What we do here is only the prequel. It is less than the opening line in the amazing, wonderful, adventure filled story that is our life. At least, it can be. What we do in the eighty or less years we live this life has an impact that echoes through eternity. All will rise again, but not all will live again. Will you?
