Jesus states that he is the light of the world. That is the message of the Bible. It is not a list of dos and don’ts. It is not a book of senseless stories for those who lack reason or analytical skills. It is the story of how the God of the universe sent us a light so that we could find him.
It is in our praise we are brought into the presence of God. It is in our faith and acceptance of God’s love that we are drawn closer.
We have a God of presence and a God of power. If we learn to keep our focus on this knowledge, we can live a life of joy instead of fear and doubt.
The Psalmist speaks of tumult, raging seas, waves, and surging tides. These are images of struggle and trial. However, he also speaks of unfailing love, singing, and praying. In fact they are written right next to each other.
If we were come face to face with one of these men, we would feel at least a little timid inside.
You see, it is all one story- a love story.
It was the betrayal that made the saving possible, but it was love that made the choice to save. It is the motif of the savior.
