Truly my soul finds rest in God;
My salvation comes from him.
(Psalm 62:1)
Relate: I was born into a Christian family, which led me to know God and go to church not because of my will but because of my parents. I spent most of my years before high school just thinking about God as normal and always there for me. But it was when I came to high school that a lot of things had changed. There were new friend groups being formed, and a lot of new people from different schools. School was getting harder and harder it was different compared to middle school. I went through a hard time with academics and also just my social life. Looking back I know that I should have sought God first during my hard times, however, I relied more on friends and just moved further away from God. But the more I relied on friends, sometimes it got harder for me, but then my mom suggested I pray to God. So I did and realised all this time I could have prayed to God but I was just spending time with my friends. From that day on, I prayed to God whenever I felt anxious and not really good which helped me get through all the tough times.
React: This verse helps remind us about how we can find peace, and rest in God. Although it may be hard sometimes, whenever we feel anxious about anything we should seek Him, and also just lay all worries aside and just be with God. Sometimes it is hard, I seek comfort and peace from another person and not God. We should always remind ourselves that all salvation is from Him, and we can find true rest in God.
Respond:
Dear God,
Thank You for this wonderful day that You have given us. I know that sometimes as Christians we fail to seek You in the midst of hard times that we go through. But I know that we should be seeking You and asking You for help and not by talking to others. God, please help us to be able to talk to You more and just find refuge in You.
In Jesus’ name, I pray
Amen.
