Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
(Psalms 61:1-4)
Relate: Everyone has had hard times at least once in their lifetime. Many people might talk to one of their peers about their problems. But as a Christian, we should keep in mind that there is a God who is willing to hear you, no matter the size of that problem. For God is our refuge and shelter, He will protect us. As someone who’s experienced not being heard, whether it was in school or in life, I can rest assured that I can always lean back on God and trust that He hears my prayers.
The main point of this verse is that it is important to be vulnerable to the Lord. David, the author, was vulnerable to the Lord about how he was feeling. The opening sentence says “hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer” it is pretty obvious that David was having a really hard time, and he couldn’t handle it on his own, so he was asking God for help. We should relate to this by seeing God as a safe place, especially during moments when you feel overwhelmed.
React: We should follow David’s example and cry out to God with whatever is on your heart. We should be completely vulnerable before God. We also have to make it a habit to turn to God when we experience anything stressful or uncertain. The way David wrote in this Bible verse shows his close connection with God. It is like he and God are best friends. If you’re wondering how to have a relationship with God like David, the first step you have to take is to speak to God in prayer. Praise God daily through words, actions, or worship.
Respond:
Dear God,
Thank you for this day, I pray that you can help me become more like You and have a closer relationship with You. I know sometimes it is very hard to be vulnerable with people, but I know that I can be vulnerable with You. Please let me seek shelter under Your protection, and rest assured that there is someone who understands and loves me like no other. In the name of Jesus,
Amen.

What a great reminder that even when we feel that no one hears us, God always hears our cries! Thank you for this post!
