So the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.
(Exodus 32:14)
Relate: I’ve had moments in my spiritual journey where I’ve wondered if my prayers matter. Do I even need to pray at all? Does God hear me? But I’ve come to realize that God gives us evidence that He does hear us and that what we say truly matters. God will answer our prayers, and hear our voices, just maybe not in the way we expect.
React: In Exodus 32, God finds that after the people he rescued grew restless and wanted a visual representation of God. God saw this and was furious. The people had created a golden calf as a replacement and representation of God, God told Moses that He would destroy them and restart. But Moses pleaded with God. Moses, a simple human, with nothing but a desire to save his people and to serve God, cried out to God. and God listened. He did not eliminate all of them. He did eliminate the unfaithful ones, but he listened to Moses and had mercy.
Respond:
Dear Lord,
I thank you for this day, and I thank you for my voice and mind, I thank you that you have given me the ability to connect to you, to talk to you. Lord Pray that you would help me to remember that you listen, and help me to see your blessings and your answers to my prayers, even if it’s not exactly what I want.
Amen
