Knowledge and Caution

By: Jett

Read: Exodus 28:1-43, Matthew 25:31-26:13, Psalm 31:9-18, Proverbs 8:12-13

I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment.
I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.
All who fear the Lord will hate evil.
Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption, and perverse speech.
(Proverbs 8:12-13)

Relate: I consistently hear a lot of preachers passionately say that sin is bad and we should hate the evil that is the opposite of the goodness of our Lord. I also know that wisdom is nothing without good judgment just like good judgment is nothing without wisdom. But together, there is a sound action that is based on both knowledge and caution.

React: When I read this verse, it made me think about a lot of things. For the first part, I understood and realized that simply having knowledge won’t do any good if you don’t know what to do with it. As for the latter, it made me think about why should we hate evil. Yes, it’s a bad thing, but shouldn’t we be focused on more happier and peaceful things than that?

Respond:

Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with the power of both knowledge and caution to be more mindful. But I ask you to forgive me for my arrogant tongue and pride.  Please o lord forgive me so that I can combat the evil with your grace, love, and gift to me.
Amen
