Jesus Is (John 1:34)

Jesus Is

I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God. (John 1:34)

Read: Job 12:1 – 14:22

Relate: The theology of Jesus’ identity is so rich in John. We have only worked our way through the first half of the first chapter but already we have seen that Jesus is…
Pre-existent (1:1, 1:15, 1:30)
The Word (1:1)
God (1:1, 1:18)
The Creator (1:3)
The Life (1:4)
The Light (1:4,5)
Human (1:14)
Glorious (1:14)
The One and Only Son (1:14)
Full of grace and truth (1:14)
The blessing giver (1:16)
Bringer of God’s love and faithfulness (1:17)
The Unique One (1:18)
Near to God’s heart (1:18)
Revealer of God (1:18)
Lamb of God (1:29)
The one who takes away sin (1:29)
Messiah (1:31)
Full of the Spirit (1:32,33)
Baptizer in the Holy Spirit (1:33)
Chosen (or Son) of God (1:34)

React: The story of what Jesus did as He walked and talked on this earth is far and away the greatest story ever told. At the end of his book John will say that there are plenty more things he could write about but there aren’t enough books to contain it. With all of that, however, John wanted to make very certain, right from the start that his readers understood exactly who Jesus was. He would write about the miracles Jesus would perform, but Jesus wasn’t just a miracle worker. He would write about the healings Jesus would provide, but Jesus wasn’t just a healer. He would write about the words Jesus would speak. But Jesus was more than just a prophet. He was God. He is God. He is the Savior. He is the Redeemer. He is Lord of all. Is He Lord of me?

Respond:

Jesus, I recognize You as Savior, be the Lord of my life. Have mercy on me a sinner, for I am in need of You.

  8. BJ, I have really enjoyed reading your posts! Specifically, in this post at the end, I like the way you used repetition in your sentence structure…”He was God. He is God. He is the Savior. He is the Redeemer. He is Lord of all.” It’s poetic to read and artistically delivers The Message.
