Your Love Extended

As crowded as these homes probably already were, I watched over and over again these kind and loving citizens open their homes to those who had been evicted (on pain of death) from theirs. I cannot but help compare the response of the western world that has such a greater capacity and yet continues to keep their doors closed.

Sometimes It Takes Distress (6/4/13)

Please forgive the slightly different look to this post. You can see how The River Walk has evolved as this one is actually from four years ago today. I would never have guessed, when writing this at the time I would be living here less than two years later. Read: 2 Samuel 22:1-23:23, Acts 2:1-47, Psalm 122:1-9,…

Tough Love

But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your coat is taken from you, give your shirt, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. (Matthew…

Action

I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive—but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Go back to what you heard and believed at…

Even If

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. (1 Peter 2:21) Read: Ezekiel 47:1 – 48:35, 1 Peter 2:11-3:7, Psalm 119:49-64, Proverbs 28:12-13 Relate: I admit I have a bias. I have uprooted my life and moved into the Middle…

Among You

Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” (John 12:7-8) Read: Jeremiah 32:1 – 33:26, Ezekiel 26:1-14 Relate: You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. It was in a…

John 4:28-30 (From the Well to the Town)

The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see him. (John 4:29-30) Read: Joshua 19:49 – 21:45, 1 Chronicles 6:54 – 81…
