Be perfect. Those aren’t necessarily healthy words to tell a person who already tends a bit too legalistic. Sometimes I take it too far.

We are all hoping that ’21 will be a better year than ’20. The scary thing is, as low as that bar might be, there is no guarantee that it will be.

It wouldn’t be worthy of respect if I could kick the dog without fear of retaliation. In the same way, when we do evil or dishonor God, of course there will be consequences. The power and goodness of God demand it. By definition, we should and do have a fear, a healthy reverence of God.
I am so glad that the Bible does not look at the people in it with rose-colored glasses. The fact that they are flawed and yet forgiven means that I can be too.

I know how I am living, and I know what God has promised. The discrepancy tells me that there is definitely a disconnect. He has given us everything we need, but we are not utilizing everything he has given us.
