They had everything they could want and far more than they deserved. But now it was time to leave it. Now it was time to re-enter the real world.
Where was the Church when Aleppo fell?
Honestly, “Walking in a winter wonderland” is not by any stretch of my imagination a fun thing to do. Glistening snow is beautiful to look at from inside a warm house, but certainly not when you are walking in it. Those little white flakes of evil falling down will never be a “beautiful sight” that makes me “happy tonight” and it is certainly not something in which I want to “frolic and play the eskimo way”.
The fact we are usually quite rightly seen as something to be avoided rather than emulated says far more about the church than it does the world.
What makes a Christian a Christian? The answer to this question might be a bit more complex than it seems.
Heman and his assistants all served as worship leaders side by side with their sons. Nearly twenty chapters we will learn that Heman has fourteen sons who all followed in the footsteps of their father. What a legacy.
It is in our praise we are brought into the presence of God. It is in our faith and acceptance of God’s love that we are drawn closer.
Tithing is not an option, it is a necessity… and it is not about money.
I firmly believe that the mark of a leader is that they actually lead people. Maybe that is too demanding but if someone has a title, or the position, or the “authority” to be a leader then they should take stock. Look around. If nobody is following you, I don’t care what your title is or where you are getting your salary, you aren’t leading.
