Jesus spoke to demons and they fled. He spoke to dead girls and they sat up. He spoke to blind eyes, and they opened. He spoke to lepers and they were cured. He gave thanks to God and five thousand men (plus uncounted women and children) were fed from one little kid’s snack. Jesus speaks to sinners and they are forgiven. He is still speaking.
She gave him comforting words, a decent meal, and then a place to lay his head. He thought he was safe. She, however, knew that neutrality cannot exist when injustice and oppression are at stake.
Some choices need to be made again, and again, and again…
In the house of God, are we pickpockets or prayer warriors? What exactly is the house of God?

I am grateful for the Law. It is like a flashlight shining on those darker spots in my life I would rather ignore. It is a witness against me.
When we pray two things are happening. We are participating in bringing heaven to down earth and we are participating in lifting earth to up heaven.
The teacher of the law asked, “Who is my neighbor?” This is a good and very legitimate question. It is one that we each should be asking as well, but I want to flip it for a second. “Who is the Good Samaritan?”
There is a watchful eye that sees all and a presence that understands the fullness of my experience.
