Although the Bible calls Lot a righteous man, he was a failure. Not only did he not even win one friend and neighbor to the Lord, but he also wasn’t even influencing his own family.

This isn’t the love God has called us to live. This is not how He taught us, on a mountainside, to treat our neighbors or even those who declare themselves our enemies. The church claims to be the spiritual seed of Israel, the child of Isaac, the child of Abraham. Are we? Are we living out this heritage?
Be perfect. Those aren’t necessarily healthy words to tell a person who already tends a bit too legalistic. Sometimes I take it too far.
Where the church thrives, spiritual decay cannot.
We are all hoping that ’21 will be a better year than ’20. The scary thing is, as low as that bar might be, there is no guarantee that it will be.
I feel sorry for those who have to put up with me these next few weeks. No snickers can cure this hangry.
It wouldn’t be worthy of respect if I could kick the dog without fear of retaliation. In the same way, when we do evil or dishonor God, of course there will be consequences. The power and goodness of God demand it. By definition, we should and do have a fear, a healthy reverence of God.
I am so glad that the Bible does not look at the people in it with rose-colored glasses. The fact that they are flawed and yet forgiven means that I can be too.
