Not Facing It Alone

By Wesley

Read: Numbers 26:52-28:15, Luke 3:1-22, Psalm 61:1-8, Proverbs 11:16-17

Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!
Then I will sing praises to your name forever as I fulfill my vows each day.
Psalm 61:2-4,8

Relate:
From the beginning of mankind, God has forgiven his people throughout generations. Full of infinite mercy he has given each and every one since the lineage of David to the people of the modern times who have begged for forgiveness and a chance of redemption. Just as David those who sinned ask God for something more than forgiveness, a blessing, or a gift. People beg for an interview to work out or for family health, which God has no reason to oblige. Only due to God’s grace, we have been given blessings.

React:
This portion of Psalms is a prayer and a song from David to God. It exclaims David’s trust and dependence on God’s strength and protection. David prays to God about how even in his lowest and hardest times he calls on God for He is a great tower of refuge for his soul. He repeats how safe he is with God and that he has listened to him throughout all locations and all of time. He praises the Lord for his gracious actions and his greatness, but he prays for God’s blessing to his people and himself, for God is eternal in love and faithfulness.

Just as David has found refuge in God, we should remember that the harsh world is not something for people to face alone. God will listen to any of his people from anywhere at any time to support them in their journey. The first thing to do is not reject, but acknowledge a God to help us is always there.

Respond:

Dear Lord,
I pray for your grace on me and those who seek shelter in the hardest of times. I pray that we look for you for every journey we must face. Help those who walk in your path and make them strong. In the holy name of Jesus,
Amen.
