Raise the Bar
He lived exactly as he was expected to live.
He lived exactly as he was expected to live.
When you look at all the different weddings we can see in the Bible, two things seem to stand out…
What do you look for in a potential spouse?
I am more than willing to obey God even to the point of death. Just so long as it is my death. If God said that my opedience to him would be the result of someone else? I don’t know.
Although the Bible calls Lot a righteous man, he was a failure. Not only did he not even win one friend and neighbor to the Lord, but he also wasn’t even influencing his own family.
This isn’t the love God has called us to live. This is not how He taught us, on a mountainside, to treat our neighbors or even those who declare themselves our enemies. The church claims to be the spiritual seed of Israel, the child of Isaac, the child of Abraham. Are we? Are we living out this heritage?
Be perfect. Those aren’t necessarily healthy words to tell a person who already tends a bit too legalistic. Sometimes I take it too far.
Where the church thrives, spiritual decay cannot.
We are all hoping that ’21 will be a better year than ’20. The scary thing is, as low as that bar might be, there is no guarantee that it will be.
I feel sorry for those who have to put up with me these next few weeks. No snickers can cure this hangry.
