Without Limit

without limit

For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. (John 3:34)

Read: Judges 19:1-20:48, John 3:22-4:3, Psalm 104:24-35, Proverbs 14:22-24

prince islandsRelate: One of the first verses in the Bible I memorized was only ten words long: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” All things. Anything. The possibilities are limitless. Jesus said if we even have faith as small as a mustard seed we can say to this mountain, be thrown into the sea, and it will be so. Think about that. Mountain… sea… go. From the cafeteria at my school I can look out on the Marmara Sea and see the Prince Islands. (These islands but this isn’t my picture. If I remember, I will edit it in tomorrow) They aren’t really mountains so much as hills but can you imagine me standing out on the patio and saying to one of those mountains, “slide on over”? I can’t.

Jesus spoke to demons and they fled. He spoke to dead girls and they sat up. He spoke to blind eyes, and they opened. He spoke to lepers and they were cured. He gave thanks to God and five thousand men (plus uncounted women and children) were fed from one little kid’s snack. Jesus speaks to sinners and they are forgiven. He is still speaking.

React: Limitless. In the world I live in, that word just doesn’t seem to live up to the hype. Limitless. I want to believe it, but my inner skeptic rises up in rebellion. Jesus has promised greater things through His followers. He is the same God yesterday, today and forever. That means He can still speak today through us. The things He can do through us is without limit. What are we wasting that unlimited potential on? What are we asking for in His Name? A new car? A pay raise? Are our dreams that small? Is our faith that weak? We are mountain movers. We are Christ’s ambassadors which means we speak with the backing and authority of the King. What He desires to do through us… it is without limit.

Respond:

Dear God,
Increase my faith. Enlarge my vision. Forgive me for living a life so small. Forgive me for dreaming dreams so petty. Forgive me for choosing battles so small. I want more. You have promised more. There are strongholds to storm. There kingdoms for conquer. The victory, through Your unlimited power is ours. It is mine. Help me to lay hold of it.
Amen

  2. Journey on brother, I am sure you will hit it just right doing greater things than Jesus one day and if I may let me hint you into the right direction; Christ in you, the hope of glory… 😉

  3. Amen. Praise God!
Thank you for your post. I believe like this years ago, then people at church told me no! This is not what it means and it only is meant back in Jesus day. Those words hurt me with my walk with Jesus! I praise God that he has shown me and his words are true! And what Jesus spoke is the truth and I to have the same power that is in Jesus is in me!

  4. “Forgive me for living a life so small” Indeed, He came to give us abundant life, life to the full. How did we make it so small and insignificant? So petty and vain?
I believe He is stirring us up, I know He’s stirring me up, thanks for not letting me settle – may He bless you with a limitless life!

  5. Thank you for your writing! I recently wrote about how Jesus admonished those with Him for their limited faith. As with them, on our walk of faith, it is good to be reminded. Thinking about the word limitless and our faith experience is so important!

  6. For it is a human superpower of being unbounded and infinite, when someone understands and comprehend anything at all. I believe firmly that Jesus has that heart that he had unlocked through the guidance of his Father.
