Lifted Up

Lifted UP

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself. (John 12:32)

Relate: Is your Christianity contagious? Please don’t read any further until you’re scrolled down and started playing the video below.

Now, as it’s playing just pause and ask yourself that question again. Is my Christianity contagious? Just pause and think about it for a minute.

React: Even as this is playing in the background and I’m typing away I have had to repent before God. Today’s verse is really a continuation of Jesus’s statement from yesterday: “The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” Satan is cast down and men will come to Jesus when He is lifted up. Unfortunately, the one I am all too often lifting up in my life is me.

Do you want to know how to be a better witness for Christ? Glorify God. Do it in song when no one is listening. Bathe your prayers in it when no one is watching. Then let it spill over into your public life. In your speech glorify God. With your actions, glorify God. In the busy times and the slow moments, through the rough times and when life is handing you a bed of roses, lift up the name of the Lord. Lift Him up. In moments public and private let His Name be exalted. Hundreds of books are written about the victorious Christian life. Dozens of “methods” for evangelism abound. They’re all unnecessary. The key is right here: “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” All means you. All means me. All means everyone who will see him exalted in our lives. Just lift Him up. He will take care of the rest.

Respond:

God, I lift You up. In this moment, right here, right now, I glorify Your Name. And when the time comes for me to move from this point, continue to be glorified in my life. Let there be no division be secular and sacred. Let there be no difference of times of prayer and moments of mundane. In every moment, at every place, be exalted.

  2. Amen! Be glorified Oh Lord in every place, spheres of my life, within and without. Be lifted up Oh Lord. That is the key indeed. If Christ be lifted up, He will draw all men unto Him. My! my!. Thanks for these words, it struck a chord in my soul.

Lift Jesus higher, not that He depends on us but we depend on Him. When He is raised higher we witness His power and grace and inevitably acknowledge He is Lord. It is wonderful and awesome and miraculous – and we are lifted up out of our doldrums! Bless the Lord.
